Reviews from our customers

I want to say a HUGE thank you for such an instructive session.  I could have wept when I saw my dog trotting around with yours, completely relaxed.  She has been OK with some dogs she has met recently, but always with a slight stiffness and this was completely absent during our session.  You have given me lots of confidence and knowledge which should help future interactions and eventually get ME relaxed!

Sally - Aug26

We really enjoyed the session. He was very friendly, welcoming and we felt at ease from the get go.  To be able to talk openly and honestly, whilst working through the ‘grey areas’ with Lucy was what we were hoping for and we weren’t disappointed, thank you.
We’ve always felt she would be fine if the introduction with dogs was managed well and to see it happen yesterday lifted us both. It was emotional to see and know she loved it too.
Your pack & order was fascinating to observe and feel very lucky to have seen it and for Lucy to have experienced it too.
We are so so grateful to have found Ian and are both 100% more positive and confident going forward and look forward to sharing our successes with you too.

Lesley - Jun26

It was a really helpful session at our home. Ian quickly put both the dogs and us at our ease, he provided practical advice and techniques that work, and gave us both the confidence to continue using them.

Ian is someone who is truly gifted at his job, and really can make a difference when situations feel out of control. What he can achieve in a single session is really quite staggering.  Both my partner and I would not hesitate to  recommend him. Thank you so much for your help.

Craig and Kirsten - May26

I haven’t taken treats on our  walks since Ian’s visit and she is still loving me. The noise is working and a friend has been over today which she came and sniffed then went off in the garden playing with my son. We’ve had no growling or snapping.
I am feeling a lot more confident with him. It boggles my brain that to do less works more, but its working.

Kirsty - May26

If you have a dog that needs to become sheep safe Ian (and Clare) are the team to make this happen . Our two whippets were taught by Ian in under an hour NOT to chase sheep. It was amazing to see the change. We have been guidance and supporting videos to continue the training ourselves . I am very glad to have had this help.

Robin - Apr26

I can’t praise & thank Ian enough for helping me with my 14month old jack russell.  Everyone told me, they are self willed and certain things can’t be trained out of them.  That is not true! You need to find out for yourself if you’re having training & behaviour problems. Ian trained ‘me’ as well as her.
Thank you so much, you truly are a ‘gem’ and one of a kind. Your knowledge is bountiful. Very, very much appreciated.

Jan - Apr26

I just wanted to say an ENORMOUS thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help and support with Luna. Ian was amazing (as I’m sure you already know). My jaw hit the floor when I saw how Luna instantly responded to him, and already I feel confident and in control. Proper Crocodile Dundee! 🙂

Sarah - Mar26

I would like to begin by thanking you for the wonderful session we had with Ian.

It was truly a pleasure for me to be there, and I say this from the bottom of my heart. As a family, we really appreciate people with kind hearts and those who care deeply about animals.

My husband and I both liked Ian very much he is a truly wonderful person.

Iuliana - Mar26

I have adopted a rescue and she settled in really well with myself and Bandit, but she is very reactive towards my daughter and partner or anyone coming to the house. Ian arrived at my house and I had no idea what to expect but he was calm and understanding. He saw the situation and he empowered my daughter to take control of the situation.

Ian has given me the advice and confidence I  needed to manage the situation. Already the house feels calmer.

I highly recommend Ian he moved our appointment sooner as I felt this issue needed to be dealt with quickly. Nothing was too much trouble

Vicky - Feb26

Our session with Ian was a revelation for us.  Our youngest daughter, gave Ian high praise, as the only trainer/behaviourist who has been able to sit down next to our dog and deal with her behaviour.  We now see hope that one day we can have visitors to the house without having to lock our dog away or hide the visitor!

Ian, was very friendly and supportive and ultra calm, whilst doing the training and we appreciated that very much.  He also made us feel that our dog wasn’t a bad dog, just a dog who needed us to take control.  Thank you very much Ian and Clare for being so helpful and supportive.

Gill, Steve and Faye - Dec25

It was just fabulous for Ian to come and visit and show US how to behave (never mind the dogs!) around Barley and Danté.  Wow, what a difference. I took Barley for an hour long walk the next day up the lane on a short lead. Using your knowledge we had no pulling. We passed another dog without a sniff of interest.
I felt so confident I took Barley for a walk the next day around another village whilst my son played football. Again, no issues on meeting others or being on the lead.  We then sat quietly together and watched the end of the match. Good as gold.
She’s calmer at the door…. She’s calmer all round. She’s playful when I call her over for cuddle time. I’m aware of playing being her top dog to her following. She’s so much more relaxed.
Dante’s constant yapping is also halted in an instant with Ian’s technique. It’s like having magic at your finger tips.
Thank you so much Ian, can’t really express how grateful I am!

Melanie - Nov25

So it’s been a week since training and our walks have transformed, Oakley has been off lead and is doing absolutely incredible, the whistle and ball is playing a big part in the recall and starting to not need the ball so much now just raising our hands and using the whistle. It’s been so rewarding! Not 100% yet on coming back when there is distractions but he’s still young and it’s only been a week. Still working on the lead walking as I think that’s more me than Oakley!

It was honestly the most amazing thing watching Ian work with all of the dogs together. Thankyou so much!

Sophie - Nov25

Wow!

That one word deserved a paragraph all on it’s own. It’s the simplest way of conveying just how much of a difference your visit to us on Monday afternoon has made.

I’m struggling to work out how to express how grateful I am. This is a huge, massive game changer and saying “thank you” seems inadequate but…… thank you so very much. Happy humans and very happy hounds thanks to you!

Carolyn and Steve - Oct25

I want to say how reassuring Ian was in his knowledge of dogs and their behaviour, in his understanding and his ability to demonstrate that knowledge in so short a time. We humans do get things wrong.  As my husband says our mistake is to anthropomorphise our dogs. Our dogs live by different set of governance within their lives… that I now appreciate… hopefully.

Yesterday with our new understanding firmly in place,  taking the dogs out with Tide walking by my side being reminded to stay there with sound and gestures he hardly pulled at all, his response to other dogs was calm and non aggressive… brilliant. Nell’s licking has also lessened, the “tshuch” sound works so well. We will certainly continue to practice our newfound approach.

Kate - Oct25

Much appreciated, learnt a lot about us as well, feeling positive and hopeful, if not it’s great to know I have you as backup.

Lovely friendly and positive session, easily understood advice and demonstration we knew how to do these things, thank you once again

Liz and Steve - Sep25

Just wanted to let you know we watched dogs behaving badly without persistent barks or the tv being attacked. We are blown away by the impact of our session.

We weren’t  even seeing Ian about that specifically but what he taught us help us implement it really quickly at home.

Nicola - Sep25

We were beyond happy, just blown away, it was like magic! I could watch and listen to him all day! We’ve had a few opportunities to try out the technique since Ian left, and the improvement is huge. I still can’t wrap my head around something so ‘simple’ being so effective. Already it feels like the home is a much happier place for us, and for Biscuit.

We had been trying all different things for so long without success, we really didn’t think there was anything anybody could do; then Ian comes in, and within the space of half an hour Biscuit is like a different dog! Simon and I, and all the neighbours thought some miracle had happened! There is no going back for us now, this is our new normal, and we love it! I only wish we had found Ian years ago.

I will be telling anyone and everyone how amazing Ian is (I am officially a member of the Ian Cooper fan club!) It’s really good and very reassuring to know you are there if we need you. Love and eternal thanks to you both.

Dawn and Simon - Aug25

Wow! What a revelation!

We are so grateful to Ian for coming all this way for our session which was a completely fascinating education for us. We feel so much more confident now.
To witness how Ian dealt with our excitable puppy and had calm behaviour in a couple of minutes was extraordinary. Everything he said made perfect sense and we feel well equipped to put his advice into practice.
We know this is an ongoing process but today has taught us so much and we look forward to having visitors rather than dreading it as well as meeting other dogs either in town or on walks.

Julie - Jul25

As soon as I heard Ian talking on one of his videos, I felt he was the right person to help me with my reactive spaniel. My gut feeling was right! Ian has helped me re-evaluate the relationship I have with my dog. He demonstrated methods that produced results and explained the psychology behind everything he was doing. I realise I can still have a loving relationship with my dog but in a way that is appropriate for him. The psychology was one of the most fascinating parts of the session to me because when you understand that, it is the crux of everything.

Ian is a very cool guy who makes you feel relaxed, heard and isn’t remotely judgemental of what you have been doing previously. He just wants you and your dog to succeed going forwards and to know you are still supported after your session ends. In Ian’s words, “I don’t do failure”! His wisdom is invaluable, interspersed with humour where appropriate.

I couldn’t rate Ian highly enough so if you are looking for a behaviourist, he is your man. Thank you Ian!

Natalie - Jul25

It is over a month since we came to see you with Dipper and Swift. The results are outstanding. There have been ‘blips’, and no doubt there will be more; however, we now have the knowledge to deal with them.

THANK YOU!

Pam and Christopher - Jul25

So how and where can I write some words to express my feelings after this morning.

So so special , an absolutely unique guy who is clearly giving anybody and any dog he comes into contact with the most rewarding and beneficial experience. And not only that but experience is laying the foundation for both to go forward living out their lives with so much more enjoyment and fulfilment than if they had never met Ian.
A truly top notch experience, thank you.

David - Jun25

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Ian for making this such a great experience. The changes that we have already seen in Max from just a couple of hours spent with Ian is incredible.

We now have the confidence going forward to handle the issues we’ve been having in a competent and healthy manner. This will improve Max’s and our lives dramatically.

Peter - Jun25

We have continued to walk Millie daily and it has become easier and easier, she is happy on the walk and the homeward walk is steady and easy too, it’s all unstressful and no pulling or freezing at noisy traffic.  We have also introduced different walks and routes from home and this has been working well too.

So to say life changing sounds a bit dramatic, but that’s what your visit was for us and Millie. Thank you

Ele and Steve - Jun25

We got so much from our session with Ian yesterday. It was genuinely fascinating and gave us a completely new way of understanding Betty. She responded so well, and this morning’s walk was already completely different. Much calmer, with far less pulling and a real improvement on recall too. Thank you for the kind offer of ongoing support. It’s such a relief to know that you’re there if we need help.

It was such a pleasure meeting Ian. He really is a dog whisperer!

Jenny - Jun25

We want to thank Ian for his excellent input, ‘tutoring’ (of us!) and advice. We found the session with him to be astounding – insofar as how much it has instantly helped us, and Sky, to overcome her anxieties and – most significantly – to enjoy and participate in walks as she always used to; confidently, happily and with a sense of adventure. We have been walking daily since Ian left, successfully taking routes that used to be our defaults and favourites – but which, in recent months, Sky just would not embark upon. It had become so debilitating and so sad – we both very much feel as though we have our happy little dog back.
This change – and Ian’s approach – is a complete revelation. He immediately understood our issues and Sky’s – and not only resolved them pretty much instantaneously, but, importantly, did so in an unambiguous, straightforward manner. This left us with very simple, clear instructions on how to handle Sky, and how to move forward and continue to maintain her confidence and ours. The uncomplex, workable nature of it all has been key to its success, for us – as much so as the actual content of the ‘instruction’.

Hazel and Robin - Apr25

We all have extraordinary days in our lives. Marked by experiences, emotions and revelations. Not many but enough to commit to life long memory. And yesterday you gave me an extraordinary day. You opened my eyes and my mind. The generosity with which you shared your knowledge and experience was incredible.
I feel I’ve been searching for how to really understand dogs, how to get in their minds, for a long time. You have enlightened me. And the relief of not having to re home Martha is palpable. I know it’s only been a few weeks but she has found a place in my heart.
We’ll be practicing all you taught us. Which included if you get it wrong just keep going. It’ll take time but it’s time I’m so glad to spend. So this is my thank you, I’m sure there will be more

Jill - Apr25

Honestly I cannot thank you enough for what the session has done. It is honestly mind blowing. I had the best 2 walks I have ever had with the boys yesterday so I am so motivated and will keep this going.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Carla - Mar25

Thank you Ian for giving me the tools to work on Roxy’s recall. I will definitely be using all you taught me. The session was informative and easy to follow. Giving me confidence that I was missing on this area of her training.

I would highly recommend Ian

Jacqui - Feb25

I would just like to say a massive thank you to Ian. The session was incredibly informative and I walked away feeling excited to get Tilly out this week to continue the training. Ian also massively helped with my confidence and made me feel like I can do it.

Holly - Jan25

We’ve been using the techniques successfully this week & I’m actively looking for other dogs on our walks to test her with now!! Never thought I’d do that!

Kate - Dec24

I contacted Ian in relation to my 4 year old labradoodle. A super dog, but increasingly reactive on walks and very vocal around my home, car  and boundaries. This resulted in a lot of barking, lunging and generally sounding  and looking like a dog you would want to avoid.  Ian came to visit and spent about 2.5 hours with us, sharing his knowledge and expertise. I have tried various things over the last couple of year, seen different trainers, behaviourists and have taken bits from them all, but their techniques have either been based on distraction or food. After this session I believe I now have the knowledge and techniques to fundamentally change our walks, our home life and our car journeys.  Literally for me, a game changer.  I could have spent all day with Ian, and his stooge dogs who are integral to putting your learning in to practice.  I waited a few weeks after our session to provide this feedback as I wanted to have some time to work with Red on my own, in a variety of different scenarios. He’s much calmer and happier and looking to me to guide and lead. I am much more relaxed and back to enjoying my life with my dogs.  If you are struggling either any aspect of being a dog guardian, then I would wholeheartedly recommend contacting Ian.

Anna - Dec24

We would like to give you an update because we are so pleased with Fergal. Last evening were able to walk along a crowded seafront with many dogs, small children, lights, stalls and some large lorries. We actually enjoyed the walk pausing to see the Christmas lights – a very different experience from trying to walk along the seafront before Ian visited. Fergal rarely reacts now at all. When certain dogs catch him by surprise he responds to the cues quickly and settles. Even most German shepherds!

We are going to meet the large black labradoodle-type dog Ian met when he was out with us and the couple who joined in the training . The two dogs are going to have a good run around in a secure field as Ian suggested.

All in all a massively different dog out and about and a much better experience for us!

Wendy and Peter - Dec24

Thank you,  THANK YOU, 🙂 I’m blown away by Ian’s magic, his skill and knowledge with the dogs and his ability to explain and teach clearly and effectively. Not to mention his calm and reassuring manner.  I wish I’d found him 2 years ago.

I feel we made a huge amount of progress  today, and I have a good understanding of how to follow on from this session.

This evening’s walk was a dramatic improvement and we met a dog that Daff sees from time to time but is not one she has much interaction with.  Such a different experience to usual …  we stood and chatted for quite a while and as far as the dog goes she was really well behaved after a little initial rudeness, a massive improvement.

Robyn - Nov24

We have seen a few trainers since getting our German Shepherds. Ian has a different approach to many, which is very easy to master and put in to practice.

The biggest difference is that he shows you why a dog reacts the way it does in different circumstances which gives the owner a great insight in to their dogs way of thinking. It totally changes how you see situations that may have been a concern in the past. Ian gives you confidence, through simple techniques, that you can handle anything that comes your way whilst out with your dog.

I would thoroughly recommend Ian to anyone that wants to learn how to control their dog in 4 easy steps whilst understanding their dogs way of looking at life. It really does enhance your relationship with your pet.  My wife and I will certainly see Ian again to take things to the next level with our dogs.

Neill and Pip - Oct24

Ian is amazing! Within minutes he got Mable listening to me, it was like magic, I have learnt so much in the session, I am so grateful for his expertise and time, Mable is so happy and relaxed, a new dog and I am determined to make sure it stays that way for her whole life. Ian has such incredible knowledge and experience and is such a gifted teacher.

Every dog owner should have an Ian, I feel so much closer to Mable now we can understand each other, so happy!

Anne - Aug24

We had the most amazing time with Ian on Thursday.  We just couldn’t get over how quickly Misty calmed down; and then to have the tools to do that ourselves was, Wow.  Friday night is Pizza night in our house, but it is spent with us listening to Misty whine, because she loves the smell of pizza too!  This week, however it was so different. Yes, there was a new noise 😉 occasionally at the dinner table, but we were surprised how quickly she accepted the situation.  Misty is already calmer, which means we are calmer.  Walks are much better, and we are coping well, except for when the ‘other dog’ is off leash and can come into Misty’s space, but we have confidence that this will get better too with time.

Karen and Peter - Aug24

A massive thank you to Clare and Ian.  Ian is truly amazing.  The transformation in the responsiveness of my dogs is incredible in such a short space of time.  Since Ian’s visit I have a new found confidence and calmness with them.  My nearly 5 month old springer spaniel puppy, who was dragging me along at the end of the lead, in spite of everything I tried, is now walking to heel.  Before Ian’s visit I was struggling with my older JRT being with the puppy, as he becomes aggressive when she gets too close.  With Ian’s guidance I am learning to manage and control this and can now have them in the same room or in the garden together. It was wonderful to see Ian working with the dogs and the introduction of his own dogs too.  All of the information he imparted was so interesting and made absolute sense.

A big thank you to Clare too for her very helpful, reassuring and supportive emails, both before and after Ian’s visit.

If you need help with your dog (or your dog needs help with you!) do not hesitate to contact Ian and Clare.

Louise - Jul24

Koda is responding so well to the training and although sometimes she does try to push her luck, thanks to Ian, we know what to do. The training and tips Ian gave us means we have a much calmer dog and our time with her is a lot less stressful. It’s reassuring to know we can contact you if we need to.
Thank you so much for your help Ian, we really couldn’t have got to where we are with Koda if you hadn’t shown us how. We have every confidence that we can mould her into an obedient, loving companion now we have the knowhow. Ian you are amazing, we can’t thank you enough!!

Lorraine and Terry - Jul24

**Returning client with new dog**

It was really interesting to see Ian work with Willow with her being so confident at such a young age. I’m so glad we took her now rather then wait as Ian said if we’d left it a few more months it would be much harder. We used slightly different techniques with her then we did with Luna which was really interesting.
I just want to thank you both for all the help and support with both of our dogs, like I said to Ian Luna has become a great dog and walks are so enjoyable with her now, Willow just may take a little longer!

Tilly - Jun24

I am so delighted with my decision to contact Ian and Clare they really did care and looked after me so well.  Clare has been amazing in communications and keeping me informed, she answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly.
My meeting with Ian was the best time and money I’ve ever spent, it has shed a light on Arlo’s behaviour and helped me understand both dogs so much better.  I was naturally nervous that Arlo was going to show me up in the worse possible light, but Ian explained everything step by step and I was super impressed by the outcome.  He talked about what normal dog behaviour was and what I needed to address.  The advice was realistic and achievable 🙂  I can’t thank you enough for making it so interesting and enjoyable, I have loved my walks this week so much more, feeling a lot more in control and I’ve really noticed a change in both of the dogs.  I will definitely go down this route again and use Ian with any future dogs as I’ve learned it’s so easy to make well intentioned mistakes. The ongoing support offered by both Ian and Clare at the end of the session has been very reassuring and really goes above and beyond my expectations. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Gill - Jun24

Absolutely brilliant. It feels like a switch has been flicked in Ragga. Obviously early days, but have already had a handful of his triggering situations and he has been almost looking for me to put my ✋🏽 up. Doorbell, two barks and then quiet as soon as I gave him the sign, did repeat it once  and then once more when my neighbour was in. Ian was worth every penny and we can not thank him enough.  Already recommended to one person at the woodlands. Thanks again so, so much.

Angie and Morgan - May24

We are halfway through the first day after Ian’s session and already the difference in Jess (and us!) is MASSIVE!! We have this morning walked into town and met several dogs on the way without a major issue and returned home to sit in the garden having a coffee without Jess barking at the slightest noise. In fact she has just laid down relaxed and fast asleep behind a chair. We feel empowered to keep this up having seen such positive results and it is also reassuring to know that we can contact Ian for further help and advice if needed.

We think Ian should be known as a “Human Behaviourist for the benefit of Dogs!”

Michael and Debbie - May24

I would like to thank Ian for an amazing and informative session yesterday with my very wayward 10 month old GSP puppy.  I have come away with lots of ideas to put in place and hopefully I will end up with a perfect companion.  I just wish I had been able to have had his advice a lot earlier – there are some very strange ideas about but now I know I am on the right path so thank you very much and I thoroughly recommend your way of teaching.

Rosie - Apr24

Humphrey (and I) have come on leaps and bounds since our visit with Ian. He’s becoming a lot calmer around most other dogs and each walk we have is an improvement on the last.

We’ve managed to pass by and in some cases stop to say hello to lots of dogs with no issues at all. Including some of the breeds we couldn’t even pass on the opposite side of the road before.

We really appreciate all Ian’s help and guidance and it’s been brilliant to see Hump being a lot calmer on his walks and both of us enjoying them again. Thank you again.

Ben - Mar24

Well I knew Ian would be good but he really is fantastic!

I loved how knowledgeable he is coupled with such a lovely manner, so friendly and patient. It was lovely to hear how reassuring he was about Rex, always focussing on the positive. I learnt so much, especially about myself!

Ingrid - Feb24

Ian came to us to help with our 4 year old Vizsla, Luca.  We needed help with her anxiety which led to persistent barking at anything that passed by the gate, especially horse riders and walkers with dogs.  It appeared to us that she was guarding her property.  She was rushing the gate if outside or almost flinging herself at the window if inside. The other issue we had with Luca was meeting other dogs out on walks, which was mainly off lead as we walk on the open access hills near us. Immediately Ian saw her behaviour he explained that it was because she was looking to us to take control rather than us letting her take control which she found difficult. Ian’s showed us simple and effective techniques to reduce and ultimately stop the barking.  Ian also introduced some of his pack to Luca to show us how to introduce her to other dogs and also how to react when Luca is approached by other off lead dogs while out. Ian’s approach to Luca and us was informative, friendly and made so much sense – we just needed him to show us!  Even after a couple of days putting into practice what we have learnt from Ian we have noticed the difference in Luca.  If you are having issues with your dog, contact Ian he WILL be able to help – thank you Ian!

Maureen and Mark - Feb24

I just want to say how massively improved my relationship with Milly is and how much better her behaviour is at home since I’ve started being more assertive with her. She rarely barks at home now and I’ve not even needed to put the collar on her while I’ve been working this week. She’s definitely looking to me as the one in charge and it’s made such a difference to us both so please thank him for me. It’s only really taken a small change in my behaviour to make big changes in hers. We’re yet to try people in the house still because we don’t get many visitors but I’m feeling so much more confident and we’re bonded more than we ever have been.

Vicky - Feb24

Although I booked essentially for recall I’ve gained a dog that just chills out when I’m busy at home instead of following me around and looking for attention or trouble!  Also walking so much lovelier on the lead even though I wasn’t really concerned about lead walking before.
It’s really proof that Ian deals with the whole dog rather than just the specific issue raised at booking and that often smaller things you don’t think are such a concern are often linked.
He’s also more affectionate but in a respectful way-it’s lovely ☺️
Can’t thank you enough I’m delighted it was the best investment in the next 10 years I could have possibly made

Amy - Jan24

I really enjoyed my session with Ian. It was gratifying to know I’d been doing some things right but, more than that, the explanations of behaviours and strategies to cope with them was invaluable. We are now striding round town like Amazons, being aloof and ignoring all we pass, the result being that Min reaches home and stands patiently waiting behind for me to open the door and walk calmly in instead of the previous panicky scrabbling rush.
I didn’t know if the issue was me or Minny – she’s unlike any dog I’ve had before – so insight into her personality and nature is helping me to be a better owner and her to be a more confident Min.
Massive thanks to Ian – so interesting, helpful and fun.

Susan - Jan24

Since seeing Ian I have definitely put on my big girl pants(!) and have really changed my behaviour with Dot. Obviously neither of us are perfect, but I just wanted to share our experience at the vets
Dot is required by law, to see them every 6 months due to her medication, we haven’t been inside for over a year as she was so crazy, I felt it wasn’t safe so they have been seeing her from a distance in the carpark, where she would lunge, growl and bark at them.
Yesterday I muzzled her and asked if we could use the back door. They agreed and the vet agreed to follow my rules with engaging with her. I took her in calmly and confidently and she was flipping amazing!! She ignored him completely and then, at the end wagged her tail at him!! We spoke for 30 mins with him popping in and out, without even a growl or a side eye, he didn’t touch her to keep it positive but honestly, this never would have happened if it hadn’t been for Ian. The vet even suggested we could think about reducing her meds, last time I went they wanted to put her on more!!
Thank you SO much

Kim - Dec23

Jax has been like a different dog on walks since our session! Today, we even met a horse, and I was able to stop & speak with the rider without any hasslefrom Jax, he just stood and waited. I can’t believe it. His life is going to change completely because of your help & we’re all really thankful

Katy - Nov23

For anyone looking for sensible, practical guidance to enable you to have a better understanding of your dogs and ultimately a better relationship with them, Ian is your man! We have 3 German Shepherds and were looking for advice and help with two of them. Our 1-year-old is a typical boisterous little boy and our 5-year-old bitch can be very reactive. Ian has given us sound advice which is easy for us to put into practice, and we now feel we have a plan which will work for all of us. Ian came to our house, and we also visited him at the training paddock near South Molton. Each session has proved to be incredibly enlightening and well worth every penny. I would also highly recommend the videos which he has put together. They are such a useful tool which you can refer back to whenever you need to, and they really do help reinforce all of the tips and advice Ian gave us at our 1:1’s. I’ve actually lost count of how many times I’ve watched them now as I seem to pick up something new every time!  A big thank you to Ian, Clare and your dogs for providing us with a plan and being so supportive when we really needed it! 😊

Phillippa - Nov23

We visited Ian with our 2 year old German Shepherd Murphy as he was reactive when walking past other dogs particularly on the lead. Ian showed us in a very sensible and straightforward way how to decisively and calmly deal with this and show Murphy he could trust us to deal with any situation. We had lost a bit of confidence in our ability to work effectively with Murphy and in one session (plus some homework) this has been totally restored thanks to Ian’s great advice. Thank you!

Martin - Oct23

Our 18month old Labrador was being aggressive towards other dogs. It was having a huge impact on our lives, and affecting where we could go and what we could do. We had been to see a local behaviourist who told us it was because she was nervous and gave us some techniques which involved lots of treats. Needless to say things were getting a lot worse! Amongst the tears, I came across Ian’s website and thank goodness I did! We did 2×2 hour sessions with Ian over 2 days. He spent time observing our dog to understand her and her triggers, and used his own dogs to create scenarios. Ian then gave us techniques to manage her behaviour. Unlike other behaviourists, Ian did not skirt around problems he jumped straight in and wanted to see her at her worst so that he could give us solutions that he knew would actually work!

Millie and Alex - Sep23

When we told Ian we wanted to take her picking up but were worried she might be aggressive towards other dogs, he did everything he could to simulate a picking up day, including lots of dummies flying around with all of his 7 dogs and put her in the back of his car with all of his dogs. This gave us so much confidence that we would be able to manage her behaviour. Ian even invited us to his house to show us how best to introduce her and manage her behaviour when in an enclosed space. It has given us so much more confidence and completely transformed our lives! We have been out picking up twice since we met with Ian and had no problems at all and have had the best time enjoying our dog work! Beyond grateful for all of Ian’s advice and support

Millie and Alex - Sep23

Ian came to us to help us with our Kelpie / Collie cross’s behavioural issues when strangers came to the door and her pulling on the lead.
We were blown away by the manner in which he calmed our dog down as soon as he walked through the door. The techniques he showed us and the explanations he provided in respect of her behaviour and how we handle it have been game changing. I feel like we know our dog so much better now.
Would highly recommend, worth every penny. One happy (and much more informed) dog owner

Adele - Sep23

In June this year we decided to get another dog…we already had a jackshsund aged 3 who was the best pup ever. We decided on a miniature daschaund aged 10 weeks and bought her home. Whilst she is adorable we soon realised she had separation anxiety issues! We followed a lot of the info/advice on line for ages but nothing seemed to work. We eventually decided to contact Ian. He came round and spent time explaining about dogs and how they think and he showed us some calming techniques for Donut. We then followed a plan that we all agreed on was best for her. After 6weeks whilst we had made lots of progress with her we felt we needed further advice. So Ian spent ages on the phone asking lots of further questions and suggested the next phase for her. We followed Ian’s suggestion to the letter and we now have a different dog. We can leave her overnight, with no barking or anxiety. And we can go out if needed without worry.  To say we are pleased and relieved is an understatement! Thank you Ian

Karen - Sep23

Thought you’d like to know how Albert is progressing.
He’s off lead again now. Keep himself pretty tight to me but we’ve had absolutely zero issues since I last saw you.
Today was a major challenge. We were out in The New Forest with him and the other two and a stray dog came along and started snarling and barking at Albert. Albert looked at me. I shouted leave it I was stood his ground didn’t growl didn’t move and didn’t attack. When I called him away, he came with good Grace.
I have taken into several towns where there have been lots of holidaymakers with their dogs and not once has he missed a beat, so thank you Ian for educating me because that’s what I needed.

Linda - Aug23

That was such a positive session for me. I feel so much more reassured and confident that I can change things for the better. I’ve seen results already and prevented an altercation. Took them on a walk later and both didn’t react to 2 motorbikes that started up almost beside them. Can’t quite believe it. I can’t thank you enough. The journey to happier more settled doggies has started!!.

Liz - Jul23

I would like to thank Ian for his amazing skills ,and the way he helped me with my 2 year old lab. I find he has given me as an owner more confidence and ironed out a few issues. I have had very good recall with Logan but sorting out the problem of running after other dogs is a thing of the past now well done again Ian!

Stephen - May23

Greg and I just wanted to say a massive thank you for todays session. We really didn’t know how the afternoon would go. Gus, our shepherd rescue, has been reactive towards other dogs and has gotten progressively worse in the 10 months he has been with us. Within 90 minutes with Ian, Gus was able to be off the lead with not one, or two but three of Ian’s wonderful dogs and showed no sign of aggression at all. Ian got us involved, explained every technique in detail and gave us the knowledge to go home and continue his training. Owning a dog with behavioural complications can be incredibly isolating and difficult in day to day life and we cannot thank Ian enough for showing us that with perseverance and knowledge, anything is possible. Greg and I really look forward to going outside and putting these tools to good use.

Amy - May23

We asked Ian to come out to help us with our dog Mylo; a very lively cocker spaniel who enjoyed chasing my horses and other dogs we’d meet out on walks.  Within minutes Ian had the respect of both me and Mylo as he quietly addressed the issues presented.  Ian took the time to explain not only what to do and how but also explained why it would work so I felt comfortable understanding the situation from the dog’s point of view.  I now have a dog who is polite and well-mannered, doesn’t chase my horses and is a real joy to take anywhere and everywhere.  If you are having problems with your dog then I highly recommend asking Ian for his help and advice.

Carolyn - May23

Thank you for yesterday. I took Betty to Fremington Quay tonight and we sat on a bench and watched the sun start to go down, went for a slow walk, she met four or five dogs, one bark at the very beginning of the walk and then nothing in fact not that interested. I felt a connection I have never experienced with her tonight, so from me and Betty thank you so much.

Maria - Apr23

I cannot thank you enough for today…I was recommended via a   friend in the village.  I was skeptical… My staffy cross is a rescue…. Within ten minutes…Henry as not jumping up..nipping..and we were able to walk on a lead..without me being dragged around by 30kgs of muscle…not only that..he was introduced to Ians 🐕…i cannot speak highly enough of ian…I am more than happy to talk to anyone prior to booking…just…absolutely happy with today’s results..its change my and my best friends relationship….we are now social…thank you so so so much.

Nicola - Mar23

Since our session on 2nd February Ruby has been improving well. We have a much better connection, she seems to look to me for guidance now rather than just doing her own thing. My husband says it is the best money he has ever spent!

Zara - Feb23

We cannot thank Ian and his team enough for the transformation which Fern has made. Ian’s knowledge about dogs and his handling skills are something else.
We had started to give up hope!  (We spent over 2 years reading up and trying different tactics to ensure Fern could try and live her best life.) Fern was anxious / fearful / reactive and a worrier (in every situation) with dogs and humans and every new situation.
Ian and Clare and their pack kindly welcomed Fern into their home for a week. Fern was keen to learn and instantly found herself listening and making adjustments. It was so reassuring to hear from Ian and Clare daily with photos and videos, we felt heard and thought about, throughout the process.
We are blown away with how Fern has changed. She is now living her best life and this is all thanks to Ian and his team.
We cannot thank you enough for the time and effort you have given our pride and joy. We highly recommend anyone and everyone to see Ian and he will not disappoint.

Naomi and Vicky - Feb23

I just wanted to take a moment to say what a wonderful time we have had with Louie over Christmas and New Year. I was dreading it but Louie was a dream. Louie is a calm, controlled version of himself. It’s remarkable. You have no idea the difference it has made for Louie but also for Gary and me. So thank you. You really are a dog whisperer!

Jane - Jan23

It’s not every day that you witness a miracle before your own eyes, believe me, this is no exaggeration. I was so amazed to see Hugo settle down with both of [Ian’s] dogs. Such a wonderful thing to think that we could ultimately socialise with friends and their dogs, it was honestly such a joy.

Jane - Dec22

Within minutes [Ian] had made a huge difference. His methods are amazing and our puppy was never scared or frightened. A very happy household. Thank you

Jamie - Oct22

Ian was so chilled and after less than an hour Honey and the other dog [she reacts with] were both off the lead, it was just amazing. It has given us the knowledge and confidence to deal with any situations that are likely to happen. It is empowering. Ian was brilliant and such a nice guy.

Sarah - Sep22

Ian is the best dog trainer I’ve ever met. He gave us such a clear understanding of dog behaviour and we saw immediate results using his technique. We’ve been struggling for months using methods we’ve been recommended or read about online, and Ian’s method is the only one that worked for her. Ian’s been very patient and made sure we were happy with everything before we went on our way. Highly recommended.

Tinc - Sep22

It has been a few weeks now and I wanted to message simply because it has been like living with a new dog! Winston has been an absolute delight. He is attentive, responsive and actually he seems happier, far less edgy. Ian is a genius! Nobody should be struggling with their dog, they should just contact Ian. I honestly cannot thank you enough.

Sally - Aug22

We want to say a huge thanks for your time and expertise. We have seen a significant improvement in both the boys behaviour. I feel a lot more confident in managing any unwanted behaviour. I really appreciate all you did as I was so close to having Dill put down, so thanks does not seem enough to express my gratitude.

Louise and Giles - Jul22

Ian gave us the tools and confidence to keep our little lady calm and level headed in all situations! We cannot thank you enough, we already see a difference and it’s only been 12 hours. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Lottie - Jul22

Ian- you have worked a miracle on Millie and after just one visit!! I cannot believe how she is now & what you have done. You are amazing! Thank you so so much!

Julie - Jul22

I was getting to my wit’s end and was starting to work my entire day around managing his behaviour. I had tried everything – clickers, treats, online courses, in-person courses and nothing was sticking. I strongly recommend Ian Cooper. This is the most positive, relationship-centred training. Honestly, he is worth driving from wherever you are, no matter the distance. Your dog, your household and your sanity will thank you for it.

Jane - Jun22

Cannot praise Ian enough! Within just the 1 session he had my 1 year old labrador very much under control. After our session yesterday it was like I was walking a different dog. I am so pleased I found Ian when I did. Thank you so much!

Tessa - Jun22

I thought I knew a fair bit about dogs but was amazed at how Ian dealt with the problem in 10minutes. He is a true dogman, and a genuinely nice guy. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ian to anyone who has a problem with their dogs, specially if you have come to the end of your tether and are thinking of getting rid of your pet. Call him first!

Richard - May22

Lee and I have been utterly astonished with [Ian’s] unbelievable understanding of dogs . We were so excited that we were able to see you, but to achieve what you did this evening Ian was mind blowing!! With no name calling, no TREATS just a positive healing energy. You sure do have a gift! We will be shouting [Ian’s] name from the rooftops! [You’re] worth every penny so we Thank you.

Mo and Lee - May22

After a very rewarding session yesterday 24/5/22 we went for a wonderful, relaxed walk today with a new slip lead. Two hours with Ian is a total game changer- Absolutely recommend Ian, without hesitation.

Jaqi - May22

No longer do we have to leg it down the garden at Olympic speed to stop her munching on one of her tasty poos. What a result !! Well pleased.

Bob and Bev - Apr22

Thank you Ian for today. It was lovely to meet you and for you to be honest with me and help me understand. I feel reassured I am on the right path. You went out of your way today with driving and not rushing anything.

Kerrie - Apr22

I absolutely loved my session last Friday, such an insight into dog behaviour. Ian’s technique to stop Fen jumping all over us & lunging on the lead have worked – there is a complete turnaround in his behaviour at home with visitors. He is a much more relaxed lab in many ways & I am a much more relaxed owner. Thank you!

Beth - Apr22

Met Ian this afternoon and we can’t praise him enough. Within 10 minutes Ian had shown us how to deal with [the behaviour], he also showed us how to deal with Yogi’s obsession with our 21 year old cat. Thank you Ian for all you help

Steve and Terrie - Mar22

I just want to say thank you again. I had so much faith you could help us from your reviews but I had no idea how quickly. He’s already a reformed dog, I honestly can’t believe it. I can’t wait to go on a walk with him and I haven’t felt like that for a while so thank you, thank you and thank you.

Bethanie - Mar22

Ian is an incredible dog trainer. We had tried a few trainers and lots of different techniques. I found Ian and thought it was worth a go! I am so glad we did! Within one session, he had our dog meeting three of his dogs calmly and with no issues.I can’t believe how quick it was. Ian listened to me fully and took everything on board before starting the session. He really knows what he is talking about!! Thanks again Ian

Leila - Feb22

The most incredibly positive experience. I am finally able to start communicating with my dogs! Recommend this as an investment – he will teach you to bring out the best in your dog! Can’t thank you enough!

Rachel - Feb22

We cannot thank you enough for putting back the confidence in. The difference was amazing just by you being here for 2hours. We will keep up the hard work you taught us now we know what to do. Thank Ian you are amazing

Tonya - Jan22

We had just one session with Ian. It was a revelation. I was unprepared for what turned out to be a great learning I felt a miracle would be needed. In that one session, Ian provided it. Quietly and calmly – no drama – not only did he show us how both problems could be solved, he gave us the tools to do it, as well as to show him we could do it, before we left him. [It’s given us] the much-needed confidence to continue with the training and remain positive. His knowledge [and] non-judgmental understanding have helped and encouraged both of us immensely. I cannot speak highly enough of his work.

Lori - Jan22

Refreshing and knowledgeable. We can highly recommend Ian, his approach makes sense, he explains the theory as well as being there to guide you in practise. Such a reassuring and calm manner, no drama and nothing too much trouble. We just wish we had heard about his services before now! Thank you Ian for giving us the tools and confidence to bring the peace back to our family and home once again

Ray - Nov21

A really well spent couple of hours today. Ian is an excellent teacher with so much knowledge on dog behaviour. He has taught us how to act around our dog, react to behaviours and to be in control. We learnt a lot and would highly recommend him to anyone who asks about dog training! Thank you Ian

Carol - Nov21

This man is fantastic! I would recommend him 100%. He transformed the dog we took to him in 2 hours and gave us the skills to continue this. If you are ever considering re-homing your dog please try this man first, I can’t praise him enough.

Sian - Oct21

The best couple of hours I have ever spent. Ian’s knowledge and guidance is invaluable!! Absolutely amazing! He has sorted out our dog completely. If you’re in need please don’t hesitate to contact Ian, he is the real life dog whisperer!!!

Tash - Oct21

Ian is an excellent teacher with so much knowledge on dog behaviour. He has taught me how to act around our dog, react to behaviours and to be in control. Both myself and our dog are much more relaxed and happier. I can’t recommend him enough! Thank you, Ian, I have learnt so much!

Shelley - Oct21

You don’t need to have a ‘problem’ dog to benefit from seeing Ian. We spent two fantastic hours with Ian yesterday learning more about their personalities and what we can expect of them and how to better communicate with them. We were given the skills we need in just the one session – no need for weekly classes with piles of treats and clickers. Don’t even think about it – if you have a dog, any dog, then go and see Ian.

Rhoda - Sep21

Ian was fantastic with our dog reactive German Shepherd [18 month old rescue]. We have tried several trainers, several techniques and spent insane amounts of money with other trainers, that did not come close to achieving what Ian did within a few days. We will be recommending Ian to every dog owner we know. He has honestly not only changed Maple’s life but also ours. We cannot thank Ian enough and recommend him highly.

Stephanie - Sep21

In just a couple of weeks I can’t believe the change in his behaviour. Going out for walks is a much happier experience now with no aggressive behaviour towards other dogs or people. I can’t thank you enough Ian and highly recommend [your] services.

Rebekah - Sep21

Ian is an amazing dog trainer who understands the dog’s body language brilliantly. After a few short hours with Ian and a couple hours back at home on out own we now how have a completely different dog. I highly recommend Ian to anyone who is on the look out for a dog trainer, someone who is more interested in the dog than the money.

Dan - Jun21

Absolutely brilliant Rex is like a different dog even after only one session. Thank you so much.

Diane - Jun21

Our dog had a huge problem chasing sheep, a week with Ian and his pack, my dog is no longer interested in the chase, I can’t thank Ian enough. I’d highly recommend this dog whisperer. He truly can talk the dog’s soul, and fix the issues!

Helen - Dec20

Cannot say enough good things about Ian. Has an amazing way with dogs and understands them better than I have ever seen anyone else. There are dog behaviourists and dog behaviourists but Ian is definitely one of the true ones. Wouldn’t use anyone else. Very highly recommend.

Nikki - Jan19

Wish I had known about Ian five years ago!! My Labrador is a different boy since we spent an hour with him. He taught me so so much in just one session. I am so pleased with the instant results, its had a huge impact on us both for the better! Thank you so much for your help Ian, I am stunned as to the difference your help and advice has made
